10,000 chickens died from heat on slaughterhouse trucks during UK's 40C day heatwave
Around 10,000 chickens died from heat stress on the way to UK slaughterhouses on the day temperatures hit 40C last summer, it’s been revealed.
The report also uncovered an incident of pigs showing unnatural “cannibalistic behaviours” towards another pig that had died of heat stress, biting its eye out of its socket. However, scientists have also warned we could look back on last year as relatively cool in decades to come as climate change takes hold.
