Instead, Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, has spoken about reducing the age limit to 66 as part of Budget 2025 negotiations. Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, recently said: "In terms of child benefit, we did have a double payment last year and I know that was very, very popular in the run up to Christmas because while inflation has dropped, it is still expensive."
There are also reports that the Child Benefit scheme will be increased by €10 in Budget 2025. It was reported that €1.4bn has been put towards spending on funding tax cuts, with it likely that the budget will be worth €1,200 for the average middle-income earner.An increase to the €750 rent tax credit will be considered for Budget 2025, Minister for Finance, Jack Chambers has said. It could be raised to as high as €1,000, according to the Irish Independent.
