Christmas Day: A swim at the Forty Foot is a tradition for many families – including the Garvey sisters making it world famous thanks to their regular dips in Sharon Horgan’s hit show,– and what a great atmosphere and morning out it is.

Christmas Day: In aid of Dunmanway Cancer Unit at CUH, the annual swim at Inchydoney beach also takes place at 11am this year, with money raised to help buy new equipment and support patient comfort. The Day Unit means so much to the people of the Dunmanway and the wider community, which requires new cardiac monitors and ECG machines, as well as recliner chairs for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Christmas Day: Another swim at 11am sharp on Inchydoney Beach, in aid of Fr John Kingston’s mission in Mozambique.Sponsorhsip cards are available from O’Donovans Hotel, Clonakilty. Each donation will make a big difference, so make a splash and donate!he organising committee said: “It’s 49 years since a small group of locals started this annual tradition. A few have never missed the occasion each year, whatever the weather”.

Christmas Day: This swim was also started by two locals, this time in December 1989, to raise money for local charities in Clare. This year, funds will go to Cancer Care West and the West Coast Surf Club’s inclusion programme. There is always a great turn-out of swimmers and supporters, so if you live in the vicinity or would like to make the journey it’s easy to join or donate on the day orChristmas Day: In aid of Ballybunion Sea & Cliff Rescue, sprint from the boathouse to the water at 12.
