15 of the strangest named towns and villages in Ireland from the rude to the confusing
Ireland is known for many things, but one of the most memorable is surely its wacky and bizarre place names.
1. Bastardstown The strangeness of this townland in Co Wexford, just outside Kilmore, speaks for itself. I think we all know somebody who acted like they were born here. 4. Nobber Perhaps one of the best-known towns on this list, Nobber is around 10 miles north of Navan and the local GAA club has even won an All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship.
7. Dicksboro The townland near Kilkenny airport is little known but the GAA team that takes its name is perhaps more widely recognised having won an impressive seven Kilkenny championships across both hurling and football. 10. Moll's Gap The scenic beauty of Moll's Gap, a mountain pass nestled right on the Ring of Kerry, is arguably unmatched anywhere in Ireland, but as anyone called Molly can attest, the name is rather unfortunate.
