Flight EI1777 departed Lanzarote for Dublin this morning but had to divert to Portugal as passengers claim they were told it 'was not sufficiently fuelled'

Up to 170 passengers are stranded in Faro International Airport, Portugal after their flight was diverted after taking off from Lanzarote bound for Dublin. However, it departed 30 minutes late and, while in the air, passengers were informed that they were diverting to Faro as the plane, an A320 which has a passenger capacity of between 140 and 170, “was not sufficiently fuelled”, according to a man on board who did not want to be named.

“It makes no sense whatsoever that a plane would not be fuelled correctly before taking off from its original departure point of Lanzarote especially with the flight being full,” he added. “Many passengers have rebooked flights with Ryanair in a bid to get out of here faster and so their baggage has been taken off the plane which may delay things even more.”
