Two pedestrians died early Monday morning after being struck by an SUV on Interstate 80 East in Warren County, New Jersey State Police report. The crash happened at 3:01 a.m. in Knowlton Township, less than two miles from the Pennsylvania line, Sgt. Philip Curry said.Police will publicly identify the two who died once family notifications are made, Curry said. They died from crash injuries, Curry said.
The highway was closed for about three hours in that direction, causing a traffic backup as the investigation got underway, Curry said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It wasn’t immediately clear why the pedestrians were on the highway.
