Those were the days.

The city was ripe for fresh development and lots of exciting new things were happening, including the launch of the Glasgow Garden Festival, the opening of new shopping centres such as the St Enoch, and the creation of the SECC.

In 1983 we even adopted a brand new slogan to recognise the fact we were heading in the right direction: Glasgow's Miles Better. Naturally, with the 1980s being well over 30 years ago, there were many things you could do back then that you can't do today. To celebrate Glasgow in the 1980s, we've put together a list of 20-things you could do back then but can't do now.
