The 74th Emmy Awards nominations have been announced, with Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, and Ted Lasso all getting recognition. The 2022 Emmy ceremony will finally be an in-person event, following a two-year break thanks to COVID. No hosts have been announced for the evening as of this writing, but producers reportedly asked Chris Rock and Dwayne Johnson to host, as well as Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, but none of those parties was interested in the job.
The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards was an entirely virtual event, losing some of the glamour of previous years. Still, given the global pandemic at the time, the producers did their best to put on an entertaining show. The Queen's Gambit and The Crown took home 11 wins each that evening, giving Netflix its first Emmy awards win. Ted Lasso won for Outstanding Comedy Series, and so did its star, Jason Sudeikis, for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled for September 12, 2022, and will air on NBC. As the planned ceremony draws nearer, expect an announcement about who will host to be coming very soon. In the meantime, this is the perfect opportunity to catch up on the nominated shows that have fallen off the radar during the 2021-2022 television season.
