Arán Artisan Bakery & Bistro Wins Supreme Champion at Blas na hÉireann AwardsArán Artisan Bakery & Bistro in Kilkenny has become the first two-time winner of the Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards after its Arán spelt sourdough was named supreme champion. The loaf is made with 80 percent local spelt flour from Kells Wholemeal and is recognised for its distinctive nutty flavour and sesame seed topping. Founded in 2019 by Nicole Server-Pawlukojc and Bart Pawlukojc, the bakery has expanded into a restaurant and is planning a nearby tea room. The owners also warned that rising costs, including gas bills, are creating a difficult business environment for food businesses.
