A 2nd arrest was made after a woman was beaten in a New York City subway hammer attack.

Nina Rothschild, 57, was hit in the head multiple times and robbed Thursday by a hammer-wielding suspect as she walked into a Long Island City, Queens, subway station.

Police first arrested William Blount, 57, on Sunday and charged him with attempted murder, robbery and assault. If convicted, Blount could face up to 25 years in prison. The criminal complaint said Alston allegedly made a $19 purchase using a blue credit card bearing the name of the subway attack victim.

Alston faces charges of criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, identity theft and criminal possession of a controlled substance.Rothschild is a senior health scientist for the NYC Health Department, which is right around the corner from the subway station. She was on her way home from work at the time of the attack.

"A woman taking the train should not be struck in the head with a hammer, repeatedly," Adams said."And for us to believe that dangerous people like that, in some corners, that we need to say because they are in pain, they should inflict pain. I don't subscribe to that. We need to catch him. He needs to be incarcerated."
