More than a dozen people were shot in the first 12 hours of the Labor Day holiday weekend, with three people succumbing to their injuries, according to authorities.

At approximately 2:52 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Racine, another fatal shooting was reported Saturday.

A 28-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the 11600 block of South Lowe Avenue at approximately 3:30 a.m., according to police. He was taken to an area hospital in good condition.In the 2900 block of South Union at approximately 7:32 p.m., a 41-year-old man was in a gangway smoking when a person in a red-colored vehicle fired shots at him, striking him in the leg. Police say he was taken to an area hospital in good condition.Place at approximately 8 p.m.

In the 4200 block of South Wells at approximately 11:31 p.m., a 27-year-old man was on the street when a person in a dark-colored vehicle fired shots, striking him twice in the left leg. The man was taken to an area hospital in good condition, police said.
