The Department of Integration has lost 300 beds in a hotel that was providing accommodation to International Protection seekers this month, the Irish Mirror understands.
A protest in Ballymun last week was widely condemned by the Government, as videos circulated on social media of people standing outside the Travelodge Hotel chanting “get them out”. “If you look online, if you look at the organisation behind these, it is a lot of anonymous accounts retweeting this sort of information.
Another contract with a hotel that is currently providing 600 beds will cease in the next number of weeks. It is also likely that the Citywest Transit facility will have to close this week due to a lack of space. The centre has had to close twice before but this closure may last for several weeks.
