Criminal Assets Bureau carried out eight searches earlier today in Limerick, Tipperary and Dublin
The Criminal Assets Bureau has seized 45 cars and €45,000 in cash as part of an investigation into money laundering for a drugs gang in the midwest.The Criminal Assets Bureau said its investigation centres on an organised crime gang involved the supply of drugs in Limerick and the surrounding areas.
Two car businesses, two private homes and four professional offices including lawyers, accountants and a finance company in Limerick, Dublin and Tipperary were searched.An account with over €130,000 has also been frozen under the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act.A man was arrested last month along with a garda who worked in intelligence and is suspected of leaking confidential information on the CAB investigation to those involved in the drugs and money laundering business.
