Buried under the layers of Simone Rocha’s harnessed, distorted spring/summer 2023 collection is a feeling of franticness. The star designer had to get it out. Lucky for us, the new edit includes wonderfully fragile and characterful menswear, as well as her usual twisted takes on feminine fashion. Here, everything to know about Rocha’s forward-looking show.
Rocha, who does not use moodboards and has a physical approach to designing with her team, felt a kind of frantic need to express the contrasts of sensitivity and masculinity, strength and femininity. “There was a real urgency that demanded a sense of movement,” she explains. In the new jelly perspex track shoes, which are curved to create a suitably ergonomic effect, the Simone Rocha woman – and man – is going places this season.
