The crypt at St. Michan's Church in Dublin was broken into this afternoon and a fire was started inside, leading to the destruction of several historic remains
A man has been arrested after a fire in the crypt of St. Michan’s Church in Dublin destroyed a number of mummified remains, including that of an 800-year-old ‘Crusader’.
Archbishop Michael Jackson visited the scene this evening, and said he was “devastated” that St. Michan’s had been the target of vandalism. CCTV footage from the church has been handed over to investigating gardaí. The archbishop expressed his gratitude to the emergency services that attended the scene.
