Saturday, Jan. 19 marks the 80th anniversary of Pres. Roosevelt's executive order that authorized placement of 122,000 Japanese-Americans in camps.

Almost 80 years ago, people of Japanese descent from the West Coast were evacuated and forced to live in internment camps.

"I don't know what made me arrive to the conclusion that we're in jail," said Ideno."We're in prison." "It's part of a larger effort to capture oral histories of elders," said Kat Nagasawa, lead producer of the project."What Uprooted tries to do is really try to package those stories in a way that's accessible to students and teachers."
