Please read our Please read ourA good opportunity to sit down with my daft thirteen year old lad, Chuks. Have a conversation about this Newcastle United 2023/24 season, now that it is over. Last live game of the season for us was Palace away.

Brighton was our first away game of the season. Not in the away end but in the family enclosure with my mate from Worksop and his young lad Jimmy who is a Brighton supporter. Travelled to the ground by bus over the South Downs with all the Brighton supporters. My son in his black and white shirt with Tonali on the back, surprisingly not a word from anyone, no banter, but that’s Southerners for you.Going to Brighton was a good quick journey.

In the ballot for Palace at home and buoyed by getting tickets for the Brentford game, I book train tickets and a hotel in the city centre as this will be a family weekend away. No luck in the ballot and it is the weekend of flooding, so family trip to Newcastle cancelled.Back row in level seven but in the corner of the Leazes, so pretty good view. The Gordon goal we celebrated three times thanks to VAR.

Historically, I have mentally suffered watching them beat us and over the years I’ve had smug glory hunting youngsters lording it. Not after this weekend. Every win over this lot I internally celebrate like winning a cup. And then the heart sinks as Kevin De Bruyne comes off the bench. To add insult to injury some youngster with a comedy name seals their victory.

Just four days after the Everton game, my Fulham mate has got me tickets in the Fulham End. Once again in the Putney end, almost identical seats, but they have now trebled in price! Worth it though as we are perfectly positioned to see the Bruno winning goal.Second time at Fulham was even better as the bouncer at the door was quite friendly to us and made a horrific joke when I had entered wearing the amazing and the best black and white shirt.
