A Concord man who’d been previously investigated for child molestation in 2015 was just charged.
SAN FRANCISCO — A Concord man who had been previously investigated for alleged child molestation has been charged, a year after prosecutors seized his phone in a child pornography investigation.
Patrick S. Yelton, 50, was charged March 28 with three counts of forcible sexual abuse of a child under 13. The alleged offenses were committed in 2015, and prosecutors had previously declined to charge Yelton due to lack of evidence. The charges are stacked on top of a pre-existing child pornography case that was filed last April, after Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce received a tip of suspicious activity on Yelton’s Google account.
In February 2021, authorities allegedly found child pornography on Yelton’s Google and Yahoo accounts, but also evidence that led them to re-open the 2015 molestation case and ultimately seek molestation charges. Yelton was arrested last month and is being held in county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, records show. His next court appearance is set for Friday morning.
