There is no joy in lying on your bed staring at your phone, twisting with guilt about everything you’re not currently achieving

Throughout university I left all of my work until the last minute, missed deadlines left right and centre, telling myself that I could regain the 10 per cent deduction in marks for lateness by using the extra time so effectively, and then not using it at all. I left with a 2.2 and a dent in my confidence, and still did nothing to fix the problem.

. And while it’s often referred to with an amused roll of the eyes and the kind of vice which can be portrayed as charming, the reality is that procrastination really can ruin your life.
