A misty spring morning with blossoms in bloom. Can more be asked?

Despite clouds, Friday seemed to have it all.

Few sights seem so closely identified with their season or city as the blossoms, but of course controlling them is no easier than exercising authority over the weather or the calendar.

So attention seemed merited by a 64-degree day when spring is in the air, fully formed blossoms bedeck the trees, and a weekend awaits us. But beyond that coincidence, the gray and elusive mist of the morning seemed to be a backdrop for the blossoms in which each enhanced the delicacy and fragility of the other.

To see the blossoms amid the mist was to glimpse a rare, almost unearthly moment, beyond what might rightfully be expected of any morning, day or season.
