UPDATE: The woman killed in the Aurora parking lot has been identified.
When officers first arrived at the parking lot, they learned the shooting stemmed from an altercation between a man and a woman, who were strangers to each other, police said.
Thoren, the suspect, called 911 and cooperated with the officers who responded. He was taken to police headquarters and interviewed by homicide detectives. Following the interviews, Thoren was arrested and booked into the city’s jail. Holmes charged the truck, Thoren told investigators, and he feared that she would “bash him in the head” with a rock, according to the affidavit. Thoren said he fired one shot.
Thoren told officers he had made a delivery to the nearby grocery store; he told detectives that he had not made a delivery. The suspect told officers that he opened the truck door and shot Holmes, he later claimed he shot the victim through the driver’s side window, which was down.
