The October 3 release of the Sally Yates report further exposed issues of abusive behavior and poor administration at multiple levels of the NWSL and U.S. Soccer. But for as much as the report focuses on three teams , it’s clear that the issues exemplified by these teams are systemic – not just in the NWSL, but in women’s soccer as a whole.

“Some of the misconduct dates to predecessor leagues and some to youth soccer,” the report reads. “The roots of abuse in women’s soccer run deep and will not be eliminated through reform in the NWSL alone.” With that in mind, The Athletic has compiled this timeline of reports related to instances of harassment and abuse in NWSL, previous U.S. women’s pro leagues, and U.S. Soccer.
