One of the boys accused of the murder of Ana Kriégel a year ago told gardaí after her body was found that he was not happy at being involved in the incident.

Detective Garda Gabriel Newton called with a colleague to the home of the second accused boy in this case on the evening of 17 May, 2018. She said Boy B told them that the other accused boy wanted to tell Ana that he was not interested in her in the park on 14 May, because he didn't want to be seen with her.

Boy B said he had left Ana with Boy A as he felt they needed privacy and went to get a drink of water at the ranger's station. He saw Ana coming back - he said she looked sad and didn't answer him.
