Last night, the event returned live following a pandemic hiatus, and thus the invitation was made all the more covetable.
Set in at the Polo Lounge at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel, the event signifies Hollywood’s presence in fashion but it also showcases fashion’s role in film. Chanel has a longstanding history patronizing the cinematic arts, after all—there is Chanel’s MoMA Film Benefit which honors the achievements of career veterans but also Chanel’s Through Her Lens program, which supports up-and-coming female filmmakers.
Alongside the pretty young things and the faces of the silver screen, the night brought out a starry list of filmmakers and storytellers like Jane Campion, Francis Ford Coppola, Ava DuVernay, Denis V, David O’Russell, and Paolo Sorrentino. Rita Ora could be seen chatting it up with Joan Collins, Regé-Jean Page caught up with Adrien Brody who attended alongside Georgina Chapman, and Kristen Stewart looked ever the cool girl in a leather jacket and an artfully undone updo.
If the colors of the Beverly Hills Hotel are usually green in pink, last night it was classic Chanel black-and-white. And hopefully for some, tomorrow it would be Oscar gold.
