Celtic's Adam Idah is excited about the prospect of becoming the club's primary striker after Kyogo Furuhashi's departure. The Republic of Ireland international sees this as an opportunity to take on a bigger role and contribute to the team's success.

Adam Idah is brimming with enthusiasm for the prospect of becoming Celtic 's primary striker in the second half of the season. The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international found himself playing second fiddle to Kyogo Furuhashi after his transfer last summer from Norwich for a reported £9.5 million fee. Following a successful loan spell at Parkhead, Furuhashi's departure to French club Rennes in the January transfer window left Idah as the leading striker option.

Idah receives support from 21-year-old Johnny Kenny, who made his debut last month upon returning from a loan spell at Shamrock Rovers, and Japan international Daizen Maeda, a winger for the Hoops capable of playing through the middle. Idah, who has scored three goals in his last two games, bringing his season tally to 11, expressed his eagerness: 'Of course, it's nice for me, obviously, that potentially I've got a lot more game time on my hands, but at the end of the day, it's not my decision whether the club signs a striker or not. 'I want to be the main man, and I want to have that role and responsibility to try and help the team. 'So it's exciting times for me, and hopefully I can carry on the goal scoring that I've been doing. 'It's why I came to Celtic in the first place. Even last year when I came (on loan) I wanted more minutes, and I've come back again in the summer and now I've got a big responsibility to take, and I'm ready to take it. 'You want to play as many minutes as you can and I'm ready to take that role now. 'But it's all about the team. I don't think I'd be too bothered if another striker came in, because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing, and that's to win as many trophies and titles as we can. 'So whoever comes in, we know they're going to help. We're not really too focused on who comes in or who's going out. It's just whoever's in the building right now and then we focus on the job.
