Aer Lingus has issued an apology following the cancellation of multiple flights at Dublin Airport on Sunday .The airline pointed to"system pressures" after 13 flights to and from the capital were shelved due to industrial strikes and Covid-related staff disruptions.Air traffic control strikes took place, while Aer Lingus noted that there was a"spike" in Covid cases among its personnel.
"Aer Lingus anticipated the return of demand for travel once Covid restrictions were removed and built appropriate buffers into our plans in order to deal with a reasonable level of additional disruption," a spokesperson told the“This weekend, system pressures from ATC strikes, and ongoing issues at airports and among third party suppliers, have regrettably necessitated the cancellation of some flights.
