Delay in Ialpa ballot on 17.75% deal due to need for Labour Court clarifications may force airline’s hand

The move comes as Irish Airline Pilots Association officials are willing to back a 17.75 per cent pay rise offered to Aer Lingus members in a Labour Court-brokered deal to which the company has already agreed. However, sources say union leaders will not suspend a work to rule that has sparked 570 flight cancellations unless Aer Lingus drops “punitive actions” against pilots.

Executive members of Ialpa, part of trade union Fórsa, met on Tuesday to discuss a Labour Court recommendation that Aer Lingus increase pilots’ pay by 17.75 per cent to end the dispute.
