Reports suggest the emergency services were ready for the aircraft on arrival at Edinburgh Airport.

Air Canada flight AC843 was on its way from Frankfurt to Toronto when it declared an emergency around 7pm. A call was made before the plane began crossing the Atlantic. At first it intended to divert to Glasgow but at the last minute landed in Edinburgh.
