East Bay double homicide investigated; Alameda County sheriff’s deputy is suspect
DUBLIN — An Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy was on the run Wednesday morning after allegedly fatally shooting a married couple inside a Dublin home, authorities said.
Alameda County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Ray Kelly confirmed Dublin police were called to the 3100 block of Colebrook Lane about 12:45 a.m., where a man and a woman were found shot.Kelly said Deputy Devin Williams Jr., 24, of Stockton, is considered a suspect and authorities are searching for him. He has worked at the sheriff’s office for a year and was assigned to the courts division.
Kelly said the sheriff’s office and Dublin police would discuss the incident at a press conference later Wednesday. State employment records show Williams worked as an officer with the Stockton Police Department from March 2020 to January 2021. He joined the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office in September 2021.
Police have not recovered the gun used in the shooting and Williams is considered “armed and dangerous.” Williams may be driving either a 2007 gray Volkswagen Jetta with a California license plate of 6MEA916 or a 2015 Hyundai with a California plate of 9BMB449.Please check back for updates.
