A good move 👏

Aldi is changing the way semi-skimmed milk is displayed across their stores and have warned people to take notice of the change.

The supermarket is trialling clear plastic lids on jugs of semi-skimmed milk in an attempt to cut down on plastic waste in their stores. Green caps, which have been standard across supermarkets to represent semi-skimmed milk, is being phased out. So far, the plan is only coming into force in stores supplied by Müller in stores across Cheshire, Manchester and Liverpool, but if it is successful then the new caps will be rolled out across every Aldi in the country. The plan, if rolled out to all Müller-supplied stores, could see an additional 60 tonnes per year of recycled High-Density Polythene turned back into food-grade packaging as the clear caps are turned back into milk bottles, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"By trialling clear milk caps we are making our milk bottles easier to recycle, so they can be turned back into new packaging.” Aldi is making efforts to increase the amount of recycled plastic found in its products. It hopes to have half of all its plastic packaging made from recycled materials by 2025.
