An Aldi shop worker was pushed over and punched in the face after confronting shoplifters

An Aldi shop worker was pushed over and punched in the face after confronting suspected shoplifters. Nottinghamshire Police says officers attended the Urban Road branch of Aldi in Kirkby-in-Ashfield after reports that it had been targeted by thieves.

The force says two men entered the shop at around 9.50am on April 10 and grabbed more than £150 worth of meat products. They were confronted by a member of staff as they headed to the exit, who they pushed over and punched in the face. The shop worker was left with bruising to their face and the suspects left the store with their stolen items. Officers have now released pictures of two people they want to speak to in connection with the incident.PC Kate Hardy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "It is important that anyone who recognises these people lets us know, as we believe they have important information that could assist our investigation.

"Likewise, shoplifting is a blight on society and has a really detrimental impact on businesses within the community, which is clearly unacceptable." Those with information can call police on 101, quoting incident number 175 of April 10.
