When this fixture last took place in January, it was a personal celebration for Alexis Mac Allister, feted before kick-off as a World Cup winner before helping Brighton humiliate the visiting Liverpool.
It paid off. Their former player had already been forced to bring down Kaoru Mitoma the first time Trent Alexander-Arnold pressed forward when, after 20 minutes, he was far too casual accepting a pass from Virgil van Dijk in midfield and lost possession from which Simon Adingra went on to put Brighton ahead in almost comical fashion.
But there’s little doubt Mac Allister will be much better served once he is finally able to begin realising his natural game.
