Morrisons announced yesterday that it has slashed the prices of 47 products to help with rising food bills.
The supermarket is cutting prices for staple items such as mince, tomatoes, butter, squash and cereal across all of its 499 stores. The price cut is said to last for around eight weeks. According to the most recent official data, food inflation hit 19.3% in April, dipping only slightly from March's 19.6% - the highest rate for more than 45 years. With a massive rise in food bills, this will mark the stores sixth round of reductions in 2023.Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s also recently cut the price of its own-brand toilet paper by up to 11%, saying the cost of pulp used to make the paper had fallen for the first time in two years.
All 47 products reduced include: This comes after changes Morrisons has made for its customers who own a loyalty card. Last month, the store brought back its 'More Card' loyalty scheme to replace its My Morrisons app after a successful trial. The 'More' card can be used as a physical card or an app, and allows customers to earn points from selected products and counters in store and online.
