That’s exactly what has happened at Alpine, who failed to properly tie down rising star Piastri and are now coming across as the jilted ex-lover as they watch new squeeze McLaren warmly embrace him. But did that define his career? Or did the seven World Championships and firmly establishing himself as one of the best drivers in the sport’s history do that instead?
