Alpine officially signs Pierre Gasly.

After months of rumors and complicated deal-making between his current and future team, Pierre Gasly will officially join the Alpine Formula 1 program in 2023. Gasly replaces the outgoing Fernando Alonso and heads to a new team after parts of six seasons in Red Bull's system, mostly spent at Scuderia AlphaTauri.

Gasly is a major get for Alpine, who cast a wide net to consider many other drivers before landing on AlphaTauri's current lead. Gasly has finished in the top ten in the series standings twice with the former Red Bull junior team, plus a career-best seventh in a half-season with AlphaTauri he had begun with the Red Bull senior team. He has two career podiums, including athat marked the team's first since Sebastian Vettel was still a development driver.
