As many as 1 in 3 Indigenous people will be diagnosed with dementia during their lifetime

Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a free webinar Tuesday to address the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia on Indigenous populations.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Native Americans are more likely to develop dementia than their White and Asian Americans peers. The nonprofit reports that one-fifth of Native Americans age 45 and older are experiencing memory problems, and as many as a third will develop Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.“This webinar is geared toward tribal organizations and stakeholders to learn about the featured agencies and what they’re doing to address Alzheimer’s,”said.

Tuesday’s webinar will cover how each of the organizations is addressing dementia in the community and the resources available at the Alzheimer’s Association for people diagnosed with the condition and their family caregivers.
