NASA LL president receives big honor during opening-day festivities
This is why President Cody Corley devotes the time that he does to keeping NASA Area Little League a vibrant organization. Children from the various teams take part in Saturday's opening-day celebrations.For the some seven seasons that NASA Little League president Cody Corley has done his part to keep the four fields at his complex watered, mowed, the scoreboards operating, and the dirt raked, he would probably say it’s a labor of love for the children who use them.
But when Saturday morning’s fog burned away and the dew disappeared on the grass, the fourth field was no longer without a name. Corley was in the middle of his opening-day ceremonies along the third-base line when the surprise was pulled off. After a blanket was removed, he was presented with the long piece of metal that bore his name and will soon be attached to the bottom of the coach pitch field’s scoreboard.“My youngest son had a basketball game in Stafford at 9. They were supposed to be over there, so to see my family walk up while they were doing it, it was a well-kept secret.
“It’s a complete surprise and undeserving. I’ve done my job and that’s about it. I had no idea that it was coming. It’s very special and I appreciate it but it completely caught me off guard,” Corley said.
