The Dundalk woman had switched to GB in a last-ditch bid to fulfil her lifelong dream
Aidan Walsh will now have to come through the box-offs at his 71kg weight if he is to make it to Paris.
The Belfast man would have been the seventh Irish boxer guaranteed to compete at the Games but went down 4-1 to Jordanian opponent Zeyad Eashash. With five places available at his weight, Walsh will get another chance to emulate his sister Michaela in making it to Paris.READ MORE:Kellie Harrington gives her honest reaction to ex-colleague Amy Broadhurst's GB switch
However Dundalk's Amy Broadhurst, who made a sensational switch from Team Ireland to GB in a last-gasp bid to make the Olympics, lost this morning and is out after losing her lightweight quarter-final. Broadhurst went down 4-1 to Korean rival Yeonji Oh after the duo were level on points after the second round.
Meanwhile, Daina Moorehouse is two wins from making her Olympic debut. The Wicklow flyweight had the longest wait to get into the ring of all the Irish hopefuls in Bangkok, where the final qualifiers are taking place.
