Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has set the tone for the Budget 2024 debate with his warning that an “overly cautious” approach could push more people into poverty.
His message at the opening of the National Economic Debate in Dublin Castle today was clearly aimed at the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council . It has already delivered a warning shot about not spending too much of the projected budget surpluses of €65 billion up to 2025.
