On day three of the murder trial, Katie Kenyon's ex boyfriend Andrew Burfield changed his plea of not guilty to guilty
After denying the charge for months, Andrew Burfield has confessed to the murder of his ex-girlfriend Katie Kenyon.
But three days in to the three week murder trial, Katie's ex-partner confessed to the charge put against him by the prosecution. The prosecution argued that Burfield had murdered Katie in cold blood before burying her in a makeshift grave in Gisburn Forest in the Forest of Bowland. The jury returned on Wednesday for the third day of the trial to get under way. Tim Storrie KC, Burfield's defence, asked for Burfield to be rearraigned.Katie went missing on April 22, with Burfield saying the two of them had gone for a picnic. There, he claimed he had taken Katie on a picnic on April 22 when she challenged him to knock a can of coke out of her hand with an axe. Burfield claimed he told police it would 'take her arm off', throwing the axe towards a tree instead.
