Deputy Labour Party leader Angela Rayner has accused the Conservative Party of spreading ‘desperate, perverted smears’ against her after claims she tries to ‘distract’ the prime minister in the Commons.
She has made no secret of her past experiences as a former care worker who left school at 16 after becoming pregnant before working her way to the top ranks of the Labour Party.
‘But it is the PM who is dragging the Conservative Party into the sewer – and the anonymous Tory MPs doing his bidding are complicit. She said: ‘I’m proud of my background, I’m proud of who I am and where I’m from – but it’s taken time.
