It has caused a great deal of upset
Anger has been voiced over the condition of Bulwell Cemetery after photos emerged showing overgrown grass, almost covering a number of tombstones. A visitor to Northern Cemetery in Hempshill Lane, took to social media to raise concerns about the state of the cemetery, stating she was "disgusted" by the overgrowth and rubbish.
The images show large amounts of grass, which in some instances has reached the tops of gravestones. Others noted having a similar experience at the cemetery. One visitor added: "I went up on Saturday and it was an absolute disgrace after wading my way through long thick grass to put flowers on three graves."Another added: "We went up this morning, it really did upset me, it’s an absolute mess. The worst I've ever seen it.
A Nottingham City Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of concerns raised in the community and from visitors to Bulwell Cemetery. During May we had a lot of warm, and welcome, sunshine which followed wetter weather in the spring, and this always leads to rapid growth of the grass.
