Anna Nolan is one of Ireland’s greatest career chameleons, from joining a convent in the Sisters of Loreto to being the runner-up in the first series of Big Brother - she has lived several lives.

Speaking about the heartbreak of his passing, she wrote for the Irish Independent: “My father was a man who loved his children and his partner. He loved jazz and classical music. He loved to go to Howth for fresh fish and he loved cooking. He loved life.

She described the experience as “like the army” due to the strict schedule, she told The Irish Times: “Up at 5.45, prayers at six, Mass at 6.30. Breakfast at seven. I did a kind of human development theology course with lots of other training nuns and priests... It tests whether you’re committed or not.”

Big Brother and television career Anna made her major TV debut in 2000 when she joined the first series of Big Brother - finishing the reality show as the runner up.
