There were nearly 14,500 people classified as homeless in Ireland in July, new figures released by the Department of Housing have shown.
As homelessness figures reached about record high, the number of homeless adults exceeded over 10,000 for the first time. The highest proportion of homeless people was in Dublin, where 10,487 people were living in emergency accommodation.
The homelessness figures published by the Department of Housing only accounts for those living in emergency accommodation.
