RADIOACTIVE chlorine from 1950s nuclear weapon tests is still leaking from Antarctic ice sheets, according to worried scientists.
One of the isotopes is called chlorine-36, which is naturally trapped by snow in Antarctica and should not be present in the atmosphere. “Chlorine is also a very toxic gas, and acute exposures to high levels can cause respiratory distress and death."
