LOS ANGELES — It’s taken a lot longer than anyone would like, and the Lakers have yet to show it against one of the NBA’s true contenders.That was a small bit of hope to hold on to after the Lakers won their second straight game on Friday night, 128-121, against the Detroit Pistons . Again, Anthony Davis played a starring role, scoring 38 points and adding 16 rebounds and four blocked shots in his first back-to-back 30-point games since February.
Davis was central to that attack, scoring 12 of his points in the final five minutes. The best the Pistons could do to stop the All-Star big man was foul him, and Davis was 18 for 21 from the line, accounting for more than half of the Lakers’ free throws.
