Twisted Metal begins filming in a few weeks, according to star and executive producer Anthony Mackie. Mackie is known for his starring roles in The Hurt Locker, Synchronic, and The Banker, as well as his work as Sam Wilson/Falcon in the MCU. He's set to take over the role of Captain America from Chris Evans in the currently unnamed Captain America 4, a continuation of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series, in which he starred opposite Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes.
Twisted Metal is based on a series of PlayStation games of the same name, where the action is centered around vehicular combat and high octane action. The series is set to be developed by Deadpool and Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and executive produced by Mackie and Will Arnett. Details remain sparse on what the plot of the Twisted Metal series will be, given the games normally have the story take a backseat to exciting gameplay.

The series also hasn't had a mainline entry since 2012, making it an odd candidate for Sony to produce a TV series out of.
The problem that many viewers of video game adaptations often raise is that they emphasize the non-interactive parts of an interactive medium. Twisted Metal fans are unlikely as invested in the games' original story as they are on the game play and game-accurate set pieces themselves, so to put too much focus on the narrative aspect of the Twisted Metal franchise would be a miscalculation.
