After its viral spray-on dress, Coperni yet again produced another runway moment where fashion meets tech.

, Coperni yet again produced another runway moment where fashion meets tech. For its fall-winter 2023 showcase, founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant brought to the runway models walking alongside robo-dogs—and it kind of served a “Black Mirror” vibe. But unlike what was seen on the show’s “Metalhead” episode, the AI robots in Coperni’s were on a mission to present the brand’s latest design visions.

But the presence of the robots was far being just a spectacle. Through their appearance on the runway, the brand aimed to speak “out against the weaponization of similar robots.” “The company hopes to create a future where humans and machines work together to improve everyone’s safety, productivity, and quality of life,” Coperni said. “This positive and joyful vision of innovation and technology is shared between Coperni and Boston Dynamics. The fall-winter 23 collection emphasizes through a show performance the symbiotic relationship between humans and technology and the poetry and imagination that it allows.

According to the brand, its newest collection is inspired by Jean de la Fontaine’s fable “The Wolf and the Lamb,” with its vision of mankind and machine living in complete harmony. “Unlike the original fable written in the 17th century, which raises questions relating to the balance of power between the human groups that make up society, Coperni reinterprets the story and transposes it to the year of 2023 with a positive vision of the future,” the brand said.

What went down the runway were pieces that paid homage to the brand’s French heritage—lots of tailored blazers, blanket coats in a myriad of fabrications, jackets depicting idyllic rural scenes, and dresses adorned with okay emojis. One of the stars of its show was the Swipe bag, a round handbag inspired by how we use our smartphones.
