The Cardinals won't have DeAndre Hopkins in a game for the first time since his suspension to start the season.
When star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins wasn't stretching with teammates and left the field before drills began at Friday's practice, it was a sign something wasn't right. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Hopkins had a knee issue, and Hopkins was listed as questionable to play for the Cardinals Sunday at Atlanta.
On Saturday, Hopkins was downgraded to out. He will miss his first game since Week 6, the last one of his six-game suspension to start the season. The Cardinals have plenty of depth at receiver, but not having Hopkins is a blow to an offense that is already on its fourth quarterback of the season, with David Blough getting the start Sunday. Hollywood Brown and Greg Dortch figure to see more targets, conceivably, without Hopkins, who had only one catch last week against Tampa Bay.
Hopkins had 64 catches for 717 yards with three touchdowns this season, in nine games. Only Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams, another Pro Bowl-caliber NFL receiver who is shut down for the season, has more catches and yards over nine games. If Hopkins is unable to play the season finale at San Francisco next week, the nine games will be the fewest he has played in a regular season in his career.
