A garda spokeswoman stated to the Irish Mirror: 'Gardaí were alerted to a device at a premises on the Elgin Road, Dublin 4 earlier this afternoon, Wednesday, 8 January. 'A cordon has been put in place and the services of the army EOD team requested. No further information is available at this time.' The Defence Forces declined to comment on ongoing operations citing security reasons. A spokesperson for the Defence Forces told the Irish Mirror: “The Defence Forces do not comment on ongoing operations for reasons of operational security.
